The 25th anniversary of Only Make Believe, which creates interactive theatre with children in hospitals, special
education schools, and care facilities, will be celebrated October 28 at 7 PM with a starry concert at Broadway's St. James Theatre.
Tony winner Joe DiPietro and Tony nominee Brad Oscar will direct the gala benefit with musical direction by Steven Jamail. The evening is currently scheduled to feature performances by Tony nominee Montego Glover and Tony winners Matt Doyle, Lena Hall, and Brian Stokes Mitchell with appearances by Jude Law and Rachel Dratch.
The one-night-only event will also recognize those who have shown support for the organization. Sam Khichi will be honored with the OMB Founder’s Award, 11-year-old Max Pisarczyk with the Clay Stefanki Award, and OMB Founder Dena Hammerstein with the Visionary Award.
Only Make Believe has impacted the lives of over 100,000 children since its founding in 1999.
The play comes on the heels of a broader cultural conversation about Dahl's work and the prejudice that was embedded in many of his most beloved stories.
