Caitlin Cook (Yeah, But Not Right Now; Number One) is bringing her solo show The Writing on the Stall to Off-Broadway's Soho Playhouse September 6-23. A.J. Holmes will direct with Ali Gordon producing.
The work is inspired by bathroom stall graffiti that Cook has obsessed over and photographed for more than a decade ("Legendary cock lobster," "my life is on fire, I think I'm in love," and "life ain't all burritos and strippers, my friend" are among the favorites Cook cites). Cook turns graffiti into the lyrics of her original songs, exploring shared humanity and what we owe each other.
The show comes to New York following runs at Edinburgh Fringe, Hollywood Fringe, Brighton Fringe, and Manchester Fringe.
Each performance will feature an opening act, with guests including Isabel Hagen, Josh Gondelman, Jo Firestone, Sean Patton, Marcia Belsky, Emma Willmann, and Alison Leiby.
