New Off-Broadway Musical An Axemas Story Begins December 1 | Playbill

Off-Broadway News New Off-Broadway Musical An Axemas Story Begins December 1

The dark musical comedy is playing a holiday engagement at The Players Theatre.

Patrick Spencer, Charlie O'Leary, and Anthony De Angelis' new musical An Axemas Story plays Off-Broadway's The Players Theatre December 1–18.

Jake Beckhard directs the raucous, dark musical comedy. Sara Linger is the musical director; Mackenna Goodrich choreographs.

The cast features Angelo McDonough as Small Paul, Ben Schrager as Buck, Charissa Bertels as Mrs. Frasier, Jessie Jo Aka as Noel, Kelly Whitley as Virginia, Lucy Rossi as Fern, Richard Lafleur as Chuck, Curry Whitmire as Farmer Todd, and RJ Christian as Mayor Maple. Swings are Rose Anne Rabut and Mark Mendez Muñoz.

An Axemas Story, billed as a "sappy new musical," is set during Christmas time in Tree Town, and all the trees are dying to look their best. After a string of disappearances, Small Paul (the puniest tree in Tree Town) and Noel (the mayor's daughter) begin to questions Tree Town’s relationship with the venerated Farmer Todd—who has been acting particularly strange as of late.

The production also has scenic and prop design by Lauren Barber, costume design by Olivia Vaughn Hern, and lighting design by Zach Dulny. Additional orchestrations are by Zach Hansen.
