The immersive Serenbe Playhouse has its cast and crew ready to take on the turn-of-the-century musical stylings of Ragtime, running at the George venue May 8 through June 9.
Set under a vaudeville tent in Atlantic City, the production will star Marcus Terrell Smith (The Book of Mormon national tour) as Coalhouse Walker Jr. and Nicole Vanessa-Ortiz (Off-Broadway's Smokey Joe's Café) as Sarah, with Jacob S. Louchheim (The Mile-Long Opera) as Tateh.
Additional cast members include Courtney Chappelle as Mother, Daniel Burns as Father, Niki Baddua as Evelyn Nesbit, Ethan Hall as Harry Houdini, Chase Davidson as Younger Brother, Lilliangina Quinones as Emma Goldman, Jeremy Skidmore as Grandfather, Pilot Bunch as The Little Boy, Elyse Corbett as The Little Girl, Tetrianna Beasley as Sarah’s Friend, Chris Saltalamacchio as Henry Ford, Aaron Schilling as J.P. Morgan, Adam Washington as Booker T. Washington, and Jeremy Gee as Willie Conklin.
Rounding out the ensemble are C.J. Babb, Ally Duncan, Destiny Freeman, Arielle Geller, Alexandria Joy, Karley Rene, Matthew Salvatore, and Terrence Smith.
Serenbe Artistic Director Brian Clowdus will helm this production, with Bubba Carr as choreographer and Chris Brent Davis serving as music director. Other creative team members include set designer Ryan Howell, lighting designer Miranda DeBusk, sound designer Rob Brooksher, and costume designer Clare Parker. Mark Warner will serve as technical director, with Jake Guinn as stunt coordinator and Joel Coady as director of production.
Serenbe is known for its immersive productions, which have included an actual sinking ship in Titanic and a fully staged outdoor battle in Shenandoah.
