International News Complete Cast Announced for SuperYou West End Staged Concert

Lourds Lane's musical follows a comic book artist who finds self-love through her superheroine characters.

The complete cast for London's staged concert production of Lourds Lane's musical SuperYou has been announced. The concert, which will be held at London's Lyric Theatre November 15, follows a developmental production of the musical in Milwaukee.

Joining previously announced star Lucie Jones (Wicked, Les Misérables) as Katie will be Lane as Rise, Luke Brady (The Prince of Egypt) as Jay, Jenny O’Leary (Heathers) as Ima-Mazing, Sharon Ballard (Mother Goose) as Blast, Joni Ayton-Kent (Carousel) as Seven, Aaliyah Monk (School of Rock) as Young Katie, Jonty Peach (Romeo) as Matty, Maddy Brennan (My Fair Lady, Cabaret, Oklahoma!) as Mom, and Will Bozier (Wicked, Moulin Rouge!) as Mi-Roar.

The rock musical follows the journey of a comic book artist who discovers self-love and confidence through her superheroine characters.

SuperYou features a book, music, lyrics, and arrangements by Lane, direction and choreography by JoAnn M. Hunter, music supervision and arrangements by Wendy Bobbitt Cavett, projection design by Caite Hevner, lighting design by Charlie Morgan Jones, and sound design by Justin Teasdale.

The musical was originally slated for an Off-Broadway premiere, which didn't come to fruition due to the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic. The musical pioneered other ways to find its audience during the Broadway shutdown, performing concerts in upstate New York on socially distanced pick-up trucks at a drive-in. SuperYou went viral and gained a cult following online, which led to a sold-out Carnegie Hall concert in July 2022.

SuperYou is produced by Melissa M. Jones and All Awesome with general management by Anthology Theatre Productions. Casting is by Pearson Casting.
