Julia Murney is directing the musical comedy based on the classic comic strip.

Julia Murney, who has wowed audiences off and on Broadway in such musicals as The Wild Party and Wicked, is directing You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown as part of the 2024 Sharon Playhouse season.

The feel-good musical, based on Charles M. Schulz's famed comic strip Peanuts, will play the Sharon, Connecticut, venue September 20–29. Michelle Lemon will choreograph the musical, penned by Clark Gesner and John Gordon, with additional material by Andrew Lippa. Eric Thomas Johnson is the music director.

The newly announced cast will feature Courtney Balan (The Prom) as Lucy, Nicolas Alan Fernandez (Jersey Boys national tour) as Snoopy, Sammy Pignalosa (The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee) as Linus, Daniel Plimpton (Book of Mormon national tour) as Charlie Brown, Hayley Podschun (Wicked) as Sally, and Jason Williams (A Bronx Tale) as Schroeder plus understudies Thomas Beebe and Molly Model. Judy Bowman Casting is the resident casting director for The Sharon Playhouse.

You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown was first seen Off-Broadway in 1967, where it became a hit with audiences. The show played a brief Broadway run in 1971, after which it became a popular selection for schools and regional theatres, and returned to the Main Stem in 1999 with a cast that included Kristin Chenoweth and Roger Bart, who both won Tonys for their performances.

The upcoming production will also feature scenic design by Christopher and Justin Swader, costume design by Kathleen DeAngelis, lighting by Jamie Roderick, and sound design by Graham Stone.
