Davis McCallum will direct.
According to press notes, the show is described as such: "Clarkston transforms the Wyly Theatre's intimate Studio Theatre into a Costco — the heart of the New American West. Steps away from the Lewis and Clark trail, the lives of Chris, a fledgling writer, and Jake, a descendant of William Clark, intersect as they stock televisions and cheese puffs. In a story leavened with humor and compassion, these two young men move toward an uncertain and unpredictable future, realizing that sometimes the most important journey you can take is the one between two people."
Hunter's The Whale premiered Off-Broadway in 2012. The show won a Drama Desk Award, a Lucille Lortel Award for Outstanding Play and a GLAAD Media Award.
Other works by Hunter include Five Genocides, Jack's Precious Moment, A Bright New Boise, Pocatello, The Few, A Great Wilderness and Rest.
Clarkston will feature set design by Drew Boyce, sound design by Stowe Nelso, lighting design by Eric Southern and costume design by Jessica Pabst.
A "pay what you can" performance will be presented as a first preview Dec. 3.
Armbruster will lead DTC’s Come Early one hour before every performance. Lilja will lead DTC’s Stay Late after each performance. These programs give audiences a chance to interact with the performers and discuss the production.
