Dark Comedy Thriller Rotten to Tour U.K. | Playbill

International News Dark Comedy Thriller Rotten to Tour U.K.

The new work from Josie White is influenced by Alfred Hitchcock and Agatha Christie.

Josie White's dark comedy thriller Rotten will tour the U.K. later this year.

Directed by Rikki Beadle-Blair, the Alfred Hitchcock- and Agatha Christie-influenced play follows three young actors as they attempt to scrape by, all the while living opposite a successful yet snobby Instagram influencer. When they catch her in a compromising position, their identity, morals, and integrity come into question as their allegiances shift in favor of their self interest.

Said Beadle-Blair, "It’s not often a writer comes up with a deliciously dark thriller that is also a hilarious comedy and a socially astute satire. So, this play is particularly fun and challenging at the same time. It’s like conducting a concerto—the cast must be pitch perfect virtuosos to keep the tension while making the audience gasp and laugh in equal measure. We need to deliver onto levels of human observation and depth… and sheer entertainment. I’m loving every second."

Beginning in March, the tour will continue through the spring, with stops set for Leicester, Derby, Norwich, Yorkshire, Lancaster, and Nottingham. Information on the tour can be found with your local theatre programmer.

Produced by Emerson and Ward Productions and Team Angelica, Rotten is also supported by Derby Theatre, Curve Theatre, In Good Company, Derbyshire LGBT+ and New Perspectives.
