David Rabe’s In the Boom Boom Room, which played on Broadway in 1973, will receive a rare New York revival this spring from the Chain Theatre. Pete Mattaliano, who performed in the original staging at Villanova University, is set to be part of the upcoming production.
Performances will begin April 21 at Off-Broadway’s American Theatre of Actors, located at 314 West 54th Street, New York. The revival is scheduled to play through May 6.
Joining Mattaliano in the cast will be Deven Anderson, Kirk Gostkowski, Nina Kassa, Kyle Kirkpatrick, Malikha Mallette, Christina Elise Perry, Tyler Reed, Cori Stolbun, Alexandra Tabas, Tina Marie Tanzer, and Paul Terkel.
The play follows go-go dancer Chrissy as she navigates the difficult circumstances and bizarre characters of a Philadelphia disco bar named the Boom Boom Room.
Madeline Kahn played the role of Chrissy in the play’s Joseph Papp-helmed Broadway debut. In the Boom Boom Room later played the Public Theater starring Ellen Greene.
Tickets are $18 and are available through chaintheatre.org or by calling (866) 811-4111.
