Vineyard Theatre has extended the world premiere of John J. Caswell, Jr.'s Scene Partners, starring Oscar winner Dianne Wiest. Directed by Rachel Chavkin, the play will now continue through December 17, with opening night moved to November 15. The play began performances October 26.
The work follows Meryl (Wiest), who late-in-life decides to leave Milwaukee for Hollywood to become a movie star. Caswell was Vineyard Theatre’s 2020-21 Paula Vogel Playwriting Award winner.
Joining Wiest is Eric Berryman (Primary Trust) as Dr. Noah Drake, Johanna Day (Sweat) as Charlize, Josh Hamilton (Reality) as Hugo, Carmen M. Herlihy (Mrs. Murray's Menagerie) as Cassie, and Kristen Sieh (The Band's Visit) as Pauline. Casting is by Calleri Jensen Davis.
The production features scenic design by Riccardo Hernández, costume design by Brenda Abbandandolo, lighting design by Alan Edwards, sound design by Leah Gelpe, video and projection design by David Bengali, prop design by Andrew Diaz, and hair and wig design by Leah Loukas. Rachel A. Zucker is the production stage manager, and Anne Troup is the video producer.
