Based on Mary Mapes’ 2005 memoir "Truth And Duty: The Press, The President, And The Privilege Of Power," the film follows Dan Rather reporting on "60 Minutes II" that George W. Bush had received preferential treatment that placed him in the Texas Air National Guard to avoid the Vietnam War draft. The scandal that followed damaged Rather's reputation and resulted in Mapes being fired.
Redford will play Rather and Blanchett will play Mapes. Moss will play former CBS employee Lucy Scott, now a journalism professor in Dallas who is brought on board by Mapes as her new associate producer.
"Truth" will be helmed by James Vanderbilt, making his directing debut.
Moss made her Broadway debut in 2008 in Speed-the-Plow. The five-time Emmy nominee's film credits include "The One I Love" and "On the Road." She played Zoey Bartlet in "The West Wing" from 1999-2006.
