The Entertainment Community Fund has announced the 2023 recipients of the Alex Dubé Scholarship. Dancers Rochelle Chang, Talya Epstein, Lisa Jantze, Edgar Page, and Hollie Wright will receive awards of $10,000 each to support the next steps of their careers.
Through the scholarship program, Career Transition for Dancers distributes awards annually to dancers enrolled in accredited graduate degree programs. The scholarship is named after former President of Career Transition, dancer, and dance advocate Alex J. Dubé, and recipients are selected by a committee led by Bebe Neuwirth, Broadway veteran and founder of the Dancers' Resource.
“It’s always an honor to lead the Alex Dubé Scholarship Committee, and I want to congratulate all of this year’s amazing applicants—especially this year’s Scholarship recipients, Rochelle, Talya, Lisa, Edgar and Hollie," Neuwirth says. "They continue to embrace their lives as dancers as they transition to these new phases of their careers, and I look forward to the wonderful things they accomplish next."
Neuwirth created the The Dancers' Resource to help with the unique trials of a career in dance, including physical strain and financial challenges. The Dancers' Resource provides individual and group support for dancers, referrals for health care and health insurance, educational seminars, emergency financial assistance, and more.
In the past year, the Fund has awarded $122,000 in scholarships to dancers. To learn more about scholarship opportunities, click here.
