News Family Secrets Will Be Explored in "The Daughter," With Geoffrey Rush, Miranda Otto and More "The Daughter," a new film inspired by Henrik Ibsen's The Wild Duck, will feature Miranda Otto, Anna Torv and Sam Neill along with Geoffrey Rush and Ewen Leslie, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The feature-film debut of Australian theatre director Simon Stone, "The Daughter" is inspired by Stone's award-winning stage re-imagining of The Wild Duck. Otto has appeared in "The Lord of the Rings" and "Rake." Torv's screen credits include "Fringe" and "The Secret Life of Us." Neil has appeared in "The Piano" and "Jurassic Park." Leslie's screen credits include "Wonderland" and "Sleeping Beauty"."

Rush, who won a 2009 Tony Award for his performance in Exit the King, also won an Academy Award for his performance in "Shine" and was also Oscar-nominated for his roles in "Shakespeare in Love," "Quills" and "The King's Speech."

"The Daughter" is being produced by Jan Chapman and Nicole O'Donohue of Fate Films, with assistance from agencies Screen Australia and Screen NSW.
