From Here to Eternity, penned by Evita and The Lion King lyricist Tim Rice with book co-writers Donald Rice and Bill Oakes, and music by Stuart Brayson, makes its American premiere June 29 at the fifth annual Finger Lakes Musical Theatre Festival.
Based on James Jones' 1951 debut novel, From Here to Eternity is a story of love, redemption and hope, set in Honolulu in 1941 against the backdrop of war. Performances run through July 20.
The musical received a West End staging in 2013 and is thought to be aiming for Broadway, though no official announcement has been made.
The show is directed and choreographed by producing artistic director, Brett Smock, with musical direction by Corinne Aquilina. Leading the cast are Corey Mach (Invisible Thread) and Paige Fauré (Cinderella), along with principals Kevin Aichele, W. Joseph Matheson, Aleka Emerson, Michael Tacconi and Jonathan Gregg.
“The men of G Company are restless and disgruntled,” state press notes. “One of their own, the rebellious but soulful Private Prewitt, falls for escort club girl Lorene, and his platoon sergeant embarks on a dangerous affair with his commander’s wife. As the infamous date of the Pearl Harbor attack approaches, the claustrophobic world of the four lovers and the desperation of the soldiers of G Company splinter amidst an escalating war.”

The ensemble is made up of Michael Antico, Joe Bach, Jordan Bell, Sean Cleary, Jesse M. Corbin, Bryce Dutton, Maureen Glessner Edwards, Tommy Hart, Abe Hegewald, Jeannie Hines-Clinton, Charlene Jean, Johnny Link, Emily Jean Mullin, Mackenzie Perpich, Christiana Perrault, Noah Plomgren, Travis Przybylski, Thomas Schario and Angela Travino.
From Here to Eternity's creative team features scenic design by Stanley A. Meyer, costume design by Lucy Brown, lighting design by Dan Ozminkowski, projection design by Christopher Ash and fight direction by Christopher Elst.
