Hadestown's North American tour welcomed Broadway's Nathan Lee Graham (Priscilla Queen of the Desert) and Maria-Christina Oliveras (Amélie, a New Musical) as well as Matthew Patrick Quinn and Hannah Whitley October 4—and now we have a first look at the new touring cast. Take a look below.
Oliveras and Quinn take on the roles of Hadestown's otherworldly lovers Persephone and Hades, respectively. Graham steps into the role of Hermes, while Whitley takes the stage as Eurydice opposite Chibueze Ihuoma, who continues in the role of Orpheus.
Ihuoma originally launched the tour as a member of the Workers Chorus, which currently comprises Jordan Bollwerk, Lindsey Hailes, Courtney Lauster, Eddie Noel Rodríguez, and Jamari Johnson Williams. Also continuing with the company are Dominique Kempf, Belén Moyano, and Nyla Watson as The Fates.
Swings for the tour include Tyla Collier, Ian Coulter-Buford, Alex Lugo, J. Antonio Rodriguez, and Cecilia Trippiedi.
The tour kicked off at Greenville, South Carolina’s Peace Center October 5, 2021, with an official opening engagement October 13 at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C. Since then, the national tour has played over 300 performances in 27 U.S. cities. The tour previously announced an extension through spring 2024.
Anaïs Mitchell’s folk- and jazz-infused musical, inspired by two intertwining myths of gods and mortals, began as a theatrical concert performed by Mitchell. The eight-time Tony-Award winning show debuted at New York Theatre Workshop in 2016 before playing Canada, London, and, in spring 2019, Broadway. The Broadway bow resumed performances September 2 at the Walter Kerr Theatre.
