News Gilbert and Sullivan Meet Spamalot in Ordway's Pirates of Penzance Ordway Center for the Performing Arts presents Gilbert and Sullivan's The Pirates of Penzance Aug. 4-16.

Directed and choreographed by James A. Rocco, with musical direction by Steve Tyler, Ordway is describing the production as "Gilbert and Sullivan meets Spamalot."

Pirates stars Hunter Ryan Herdlicka (Broadway's A Little Night Music) as Frederic and Brandon O'Neill (Broadway's Aladdin ) as The Pirate King. Herdlicka and O'Neill are joined by Dieter Bierbrauer as the Sergeant of Police, Gary Briggle as Major-General, Anne Eisendrath as Mabel and Kersten Rodau as Ruth.

The production also features Libby Anderson, Lisa Bartholomew-Given, Marnie Buckner, Jennifer Eckes, Alex Gibson, Brandon Grimes, Jonah Hale, Reid Harmsen, Andrew Hey, Caroline Innerbichler, Suzie Juul, Alice McGlave, Erin Miller, Joey Miller, Pascal Pastrana, Matthew Rubbelke, Randy Schmeling, Rudolph Searles III, Emily Rose Skinner, Dane Stokinger, Alicia Renée Storkamp, Kirby Trymucha-Duresky and Monte Riegel Wheeler.

Pirates is a "cheeky farce" that tells the story of "a band of swashbuckling pirates [who] set hearts aflutter with their high seas hijinks." The show features "damsels in distress, a sexy pirate king, Canadian Mounties, and a delightfully dotty Major-General."
