Helmed by Daniella Topol, performances of Ironbound are set to begin March 3, with an opening night scheduled for March 16 at Off-Broadway's Rattlestick Playwrights Theater.
One of the top ten plays on the 2014 Kilroys’ List, Ironbound was produced by Round House Theatre in DC as part of The Women’s Voices Theater Festival, where it received critical acclaim. It presents the portrait of a woman fighting to survive in America; Gershon will play its leading lady.
"At a bus stop in a run-down New Jersey town, Darja, a young Polish immigrant, is done talking about feelings; it’s time to talk money," state production notes. "Over the course of 20 years, three relationships, and three presidents, Darja negotiates for her future with men who can offer her love or security, but never both."
The creative team is made up of set and lighting designer Justin Townsend, costume designer Kaye Voyce and sound designer Jane Shaw.
