The fifth season of the Canadian sitcom sees the town putting on a community theatre production of John Kander, Fred Ebb, and Joe Masteroff's Cabaret, directed by none other than Moira Rose (along with co-director Jocelyn Schitt). Characters taking on roles in the 1966 Broadway classic include Rosebud motel co-owner Stevie Budd (Emily Hampshire) as Sally Bowles, Rose Apothecary business partner Patrick Brewer (Noah Reid) as the Emcee, and Alexis Rose (Annie Murphy) as Kit Kat Dancer #6.
The episode, which premiered April 10, featured performances of "Willkommen" and "Maybe This Time." Star and co-creator Dan Levy co-directed the episode with Andrew Cividino.

Schitt's Creek centers on a wealthy family—led by video store magnate Johnny (Eugene Levy) and his soap opera star wife Moira (Catherine O'Hara)—that find themselves completely broke. Their sole remaining asset is a small town called Schitt's Creek, which the Roses bought as a gag gift years earlier. With their life of luxury now firmly in the past, the Rose family is forced to face their newfound poverty head-on and come together as a family to survive in their new home.
The show, created by Dan and his father and co-star Eugene Levy, was recently renewed for a sixth and final season.
