Godspell Director Will Helm DIVA Reading, About A Boy Who (Literally) Kills for the Theatre | Playbill

News Godspell Director Will Helm DIVA Reading, About A Boy Who (Literally) Kills for the Theatre Daniel Goldstein, who directed the Broadway revival of Godspell, will direct a reading of the new one-man musical DIVA, featuring a score by composer-lyricist Alexander Sage Oyen.

Private reading presentations will be held Feb. 26 and Feb. 27 in Manhattan.

DIVA features a book by Sean Patrick Monahan, who also stars. Music direction is by Nathan Dame.

According to press notes, "The show is about Desmond Channing — a high school Drama Club President who will stop at nothing to get what he wants. When the new kid, Evan Harris, starts to muscle in on his territory, Desmond decides to mow him down with a minivan. The action of the show takes place as Desmond is about to be punished for his crime, when his life flashes before his eyes as a glitzy cabaret act in which he acts out the events that led to his downfall and plays all of the parts."
