TDF, the non-profit organization dedicated to making theatre accessible and available to everyone, will celebrate its 50th anniversary June 18, with a gala event headlined by two-time Tony Award nominee Brandon Victor Dixon at Gotham Hall.
Dixon, who recently starred as Judas in NBC’s live concert presentation of Jesus Christ Superstar, last appeared on Broadway as Aaron Burr in Hamilton. A two-time Tony nominee for his performances in Shuffle Along and The Color Purple, Dixon has also appeared in Motown and the Off-Broadway premiere of The Scottsboro Boys.
As previously reported, the evening will honor Tony and Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Tony Kushner, whose landmark epic Angels in America returned to Broadway this season in an acclaimed revival starring Nathan Lane and Andrew Garfield.
TDF will also present Tony and Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright James Lapine (Sunday in the Park With George, Into the Woods) with the inaugural TDF Founders Award.
Julie Halston (The Divine Sister, You Can’t Take It With You) will host the evening. Tables begin at $10,000, and individual tickets are available for $1,500 and $1,000. To purchase tickets, visit gala.tdf.org.
