Audible and Together, the new theatrical partnership led by Sonia Friedman and Hugh Jackman, are partnering on a series of plays, readings, panels, and workshops at Audible's Minetta Lane Theatre April 28-June 18. The partners will also be participating in a collaboration with TDF to welcome the widest possible audience to their collaboration.
The collaboration will include two plays directed by Ian Rickson and presented in repertory: the New York premiere of Hannah Moscovitch’s Sexual Misconduct of the Middle Classes, starring Ella Beatty and Hugh Jackman (running April 28-June 18); and Jen Silverman’s new adaptation of August Strindberg’s Creditors, starring Liev Schreiber, Maggie Siff, and Justice Smith (running May 10-June 18). Sexual Misconduct of the Middle Classes and Creditors will also be recorded and released on Audible at a later date. A more detailed performance schedule for both works will be released in the coming days.
The creative team for both productions is scenic designers Brett J Banakis and Christine Jones, costume designer Ásta Hostetter, lighting designer Isabella Byrd, and sound designer Mikaal Sulaiman. Ann James is the intimacy coordinator and Jim Carnahan is casting director. Merrick Williams is the production stage manager for Sexual Misconduct of the Middle Classes and Angela Griggs is the production stage manager for Creditors. Theatrical supervision is by ShowTown Theatricals.
Additional events involved in the partnership—including script-in-hand readings, post-show panel discussions, and creative workshops—will be announced at a later date.
As part of a unique collaboration, Audible and TOGETHER will work with TDF to offer complimentary tickets to 25% of the house at every performance to a range of community partners who often experience barriers to attending the performing arts, including seniors, veterans, students, educators, and more. Additionally, 25% of tickets will be made available for purchase on the day of each performance through a digital lottery and in-person at the box office, priced at $35.
“The Minetta Lane is a gem of a theatre with a rich history, and over the past seven years, Audible has re-established it as a crucial center for top-tier productions, and a shining example of Off-Broadway excellence," say Jackman and Friedman in a joint statement. "Adding to that their innovative model of producing work on stage and in audio, it was clear to us and director Ian Rickson that launching our first Together venture with Audible was a perfect match. What makes this collaboration even more meaningful is our shared belief in access and audience development: 25% of tickets to every performance will be free to community groups through our collaboration with TDF, and another 25% will be available day-of for just $35—an unprecedented effort to honor the audience of today while building the audience of tomorrow, by welcoming people who might not otherwise have the opportunity to attend.”
Tickets not part of the TDF collaborations will go on sale April 7 at 12 PM ET.
