Evan Cabnet, who returns to the Vineyard following his direction of Outside People, directs. Previews of Gloria began May 28.
Jacobs-Jenkins, whose recent play An Octoroon garnered critical acclaim and two separate extended Off-Broadway runs, makes his Vineyard mainstage debut with Gloria. The new work follows an ambitious group of editorial assistants at a notorious Manhattan magazine, whose ordinary workday becomes anything but as the stakes get increasingly higher.
The production features scenic design by Takeshi Kata, costume design by Ilona Somogyi, lighting design by Matt Frey and sound design by Matt Tierney.
Jacobs-Jenkins is a 2014 Obie Award winner and recipient of the Vineyard's Paula Vogel Playwriting Award; his earlier works include Appropriate, War and Neighbors.
