On November 21, San Francisco Opera will present the world premiere of Girls of the Golden West, by composer John Adams and librettist Peter Sellars. Also directed by Sellars, the opera explores the true stories of pioneers on California’s Gold Rush frontier during the 1850s. The production runs through December 10.
The cast includes Julia Bullock as Dame Shirley, Davóne Tines as Ned Peters, Paul Appleby as Joe Cannon, Hye Jung Lee as Ah Sing, J’Nai Bridges as Josefa Segovia, Ryan McKinny as Clarence, Elliot Madore as Ramón, and Lorena Feijóo as Lola Montez.
