Man in Snow, the newest work from Out of the Mouths of Babes and Line playwright Israel Horovitz, opens November 14 at La MaMa’s First Floor Theatre. The play arrives Off-Broadway following in its acclaimed world-premiere production at Gloucester Stage Company in Massachusetts.

Man in Snow, which is also directed by Horovitz, is presented by La MaMa in association with Barefoot Theatre Company and Compagnia Horovitz-Paciotto. The story follows David, who is recently retired and mourning the loss of his young son. He revisits Mt. McKinley (now renamed Denali) in Alaska, a mountain he climbed successfully at age 19, this time not as a mountaineer, but as a guide to a group of Japanese honeymooners hoping to conceive a child under the spell of the Northern Lights.

The cast for the New York premiere includes Will Lyman, Ron Nakahara, Paul O’Brien, Sandra Shipley, Ashely Risteen, and Francisco Solorzano. Previews began November 11 with performances scheduled to play through November 27.

Man in Snow has lighting design by Niluka Hotaling; sound design by David Reiffel; scenic design by Jenna McFarland Lord; and costume design by Chelsea Kerl. Original music is by Julia Kent.
