Oliver Stone's "Snowden," about the life of Edward Snowden, an American who sought asylum in Russia after making public classified NSA documents, has added Richardson (The Belle of Amherst, Ivanov) and Rhys Ifan ("Elementary," "The Amazing Spider-Man") to its cast.
The film, which features a screenplay from Stone and Kieran Fitzgerald, also counts Joseph Gordon-Levitt ("Inception," "The Dark Knight Rises"), Shailene Woodley ("Divergent," "The Fault in Our Stars"), Academy Award winner Melissa Leo ("The Fighter," "Prisoners"), Zachary Quinto (The Glass Menagerie, Angels in America), Academy Award nominee Tom Wilkinson ("Michael Clayton," "Batman Begins") and Timothy Olyphant ("Damages," "The Office") among its actors.
The film is based on "The Snowden Files: The Inside Story of the World's Most Wanted Man" and "Time of the Octopus," which was written by Snowden's Russian lawyer, Anatoly Kucherena.
The film, which is being produced by Borman, Eric Kopeloff and Philip Schulz-Deyle, is slated for release on Christmas Day.
