Irish Repertory Theatre's production of Samuel Beckett's Endgame officially opens February 2 after beginning previews January 25 on the Francis J. Greenburger Mainstage. A limited run is planned through March 12.
Tony nominee John Douglas Thompson stars as Hamm, blind and chair bound, living out the end days in a dingy room with his servant Clov and his parents (who live in trash cans). Tony winner Bill Irwin plays Clov, the only inhabitant capable of coming and going...yet he does not go. Joe Grifasi and Patrice Johnson Chevannes are the parents Nell and Nagg.
Ciarán O’Reilly directs the 1957 work.
Endgame features a set design by Charlie Corcoran (The Butcher Boy), costume design by Orla Long (The Butcher Boy), lighting design by Michael Gottlieb (A Touch of the Poet), sound design by M. Florian Staab (The Butcher Boy), and properties by Deirdre Brennan (The Dead, 1904). Jeff Davolt (Autumn Royal) serves as production stage manager with Giselle Raphaela as assistant stage manager.
