Four-time Tony nominee Judy Kuhn, most recently on Broadway as Golde in the revival of Fiddler on the Roof, will again step into that role in a new production of the classic Broadway musical at London's Menier Chocolate Factory.
Directed by Tony winner Trevor Nunn, the production will begin November 23 prior to an official opening December 5. Performances are currently scheduled through March 9, 2019.
As previously announced, Andy Nyman will head the cast as Tevye. He and Kuhn will be joined by Harriet Bunton as Hodel, Dermot Canavan as Lazar Wolf, Stewart Clarke as Perchik, Matt Corner as Fyedka, Joshua Gannon as Motel, Louise Gold as Yente, Kirsty MacLaren as Chava, and Molly Osborne as Tzeitel.
The production will also feature choreography by Matt Cole, set design by Robert Jones, costume design by Jonathan Lipman, hair and makeup design by Richard Mawbey, lighting design by Tim Lutkin, sound design by Gregory Clarke, musical supervision and direction by Paul Bogaev, and orchestrations by Jason Carr.
Fiddler on the Roof, the story of Tevye the milkman, his wife, and five daughters, features music by Jerry Bock, lyrics by Sheldon Harnick, and a book by Joseph Stein. The musical was last seen in London in May 2007 at the Savoy Theatre with Henry Goodman as Tevye.
Fiddler is currently being staged in Yiddish Off-Broadway in an acclaimed, extended production from National Theatre Folksbienne.
