Julie Benko, who performs Thursday evenings as the alternate for Lea Michele's Fanny Brice in the Broadway revival of Funny Girl, will interpret the songs of that musical's late composer, Jule Styne, in an upcoming benefit for Off-Broadway's The York Theatre Company.

Entitled Julie Sings Jule, the York's Spring Benefit Concert will be held April 10 at the company's temporary home, The Theatre at St. Jeans. Benko will be accompanied by a band led by her musical director husband, Jason Yeager.

The evening will begin at 7:30 PM followed by a seated supper and reception with Benko.

“All the mishegoss to do with Funny Girl has died down, and it’s clear that Julie Benko is an actual star. The York had her first in Bar Mitzvah Boy in 2018, and we’re absolutely kvelling that she will appear for our spring benefit on April 10th,” says Producing Artistic Director Jim Morgan.

Benko has also appeared on Broadway in Fiddler on the Roof and Les Misérables.

Styne's Broadway composing credits include High Button Shoes, Gentlemen Prefer Blondes, Bells Are Ringing, Peter Pan, and Gypsy. Among his catalog of tunes: "Time After Time," "All I Need Is the Girl," "Guess I'll Hang My Tears Out to Dry," "It's Magic," "People," "Diamonds Are a Girl's Best Friend," "Let it Snow! Let it Snow! Let it Snow!," "Never Never Land," "Small World," "Everything's Coming Up Roses," and "Just in Time," among others.
