Chicago's Sarah Siddons Society, which funds college scholarships for young theatre artists, will present its annual Sarah Siddons Society Award to Broadway favorite Kelli O'Hara. The honor, given in honor of O'Hara's outstanding artistic achievement in theatre, will be bestowed at the Society's 2024 benefit, planned for November 6 in Chicago.
O'Hara is a Tony winner for her performance in The King and I, and was last seen on the Main Stem in Days of Wine and Roses, for which she received a Tony nomination. She's also appeared in Kiss Me, Kate; The Bridges of Madison County; Nice Work If You Can Get It; South Pacific; The Pajama Game; Sweet Smell of Success; Follies; Dracula; and Jekyll & Hyde.
“We are honored to present the incredibly talented Kelli O’Hara with Chicago’s oldest and most prestigious theatre award," says Society President Martin Balogh in a statement. "Her performances from memorable revivals to spectacular new works on Broadway are always awe inspiring. There’s no recipient more deserving of this year’s award than Kelli O’Hara."
Tickets for the benefit are available at SarahSiddonsSociety.org, with proceeds benefiting the organization's scholarships.
