Lewis Black Talks About His Broadway Celebrity Autobiography Experience and New Show | Playbill

Broadway News Lewis Black Talks About His Broadway Celebrity Autobiography Experience and New Show Whose biography did the award-winning comic read?

Comedian Lewis Black appeared on The Today Show to discuss his most recent Broadway outing: the November 26 performance of Celebrity Autobiography.

“It was a too much fun,” he said. “It was like eating frosting.”

Black read from Vanna White’s autobiography, but, unlike co-star Mario Cantone (who read Carol Channing's in her voice), Black did not attempt to do an impression of the memoir's subject. “I thought that I inhabited Vanna,” he said. Though Black won’t be back for the remaining two performances December 10 and 17, a new lineup of celebrities are set to read the celebrity autobiographies, including Alec Baldwin and Queer Eye’s Antoni Porowski.

Black is currently on tour with his show Lewis Black Live, which incorporates a new segment: The Rant Is Due, which turns rants submitted to Black via the Q&A portal on his website into performance pieces. “It's all written by the people. It's a show written by the people of the city I'm in.”

Lewis Black has been a special guest performer on Playbill's Broadway on the High Seas cruises. Cabins are now on sale for Playbill’s Broadway on the Rhône River 2 cruise April 7–14, 2019, featuring Melissa Errico, Rebecca Luker, Marc Kudisch, and Seth Rudetsky, and Broadway in Bordeaux With Michael Feinstein September 1–9, 2019, with other celebrity guests to be announced!
