Tony winner Linda Lavin and Elliott Gould play a middle-aged couple in 9JKL, a new television comedy series premiering October 2 at 8:30 PM (ET) on CBS.
The series stars Mark Feuerstein (The Last Night of Ballyhoo; Royal Pains) in a comedy inspired by his real life. Newly divorced Josh Roberts (Feuerstein) is an actor between projects who moves home to New York to regroup, living in an apartment sandwiched between his parents on one side and his brother (David Walton), sister-in-law (Liza Lapira), and their new baby on the other.
Lavin has been nominated for Tony Awards six times, and won in 1987 for her performance in Neil Simon’s Broadway Bound. Among her 17 Broadway appearances, Lavin appeared in Charles Busch’s The Tale of the Allergist’s Wife, Carol Burnett’s Hollywood Arms, Wendy Wasserstein’s The Sisters Rosensweig, and the musical It’s a Bird... It’s a Plane...It’s Superman, introducing the standard “You’ve Got Possibilities.”
Gould has a long career on TV, in films, and on Broadway. He appeared in the musicals I Can Get It for You Wholesale, Irma La Douce, and Drat! The Cat!, and in Jules Feiffer’s black comedy Little Murders.
