A new song by Beyoncé, "Spirit," has heralded a companion album to the upcoming The Lion King remake.
The song will appear on the soundtrack in addition to the The Lion King: The Gift, an album produced and curated by Beyoncé herself in honor of the Disney movie. "Spirit" is available on all digital streaming platforms ahead of The Gift’s release July 19 (the same day as the movie). The film's soundtrack is set for digital released on July 11.
"This is sonic cinema," said the Grammy winner. "This is a new experience of storytelling. I wanted to do more than find a collection of songs that were inspired by the film. It is a mixture of genres and collaboration that isn’t one sound. It is influenced by everything from R&B, pop, hip hop and Afro Beat."
