Steve Rogers may have retired from being Captain America onscreen, but he still lives on in musical form! Rogers: The Musical will be playing at the Hyperion Theater in Disney California Adventure Park beginning June 30 for a limited time. The show has Broadway roots: Tony-winning composer Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman (currently on Broadway with Some Like It Hot) are behind one of the songs for the 30-minute musical. Alan Menken (of Little Shop of Horrors Off-Broadway) and David Zippel (of Bad Cinderella) are behind another.

Rogers: The Musical first began as a comedic sequence in Marvel's Hawkeye TV show on Disney+. Shaiman and Wittman wrote one song: "Save the City," which appeared as a musical sequence in the first episode of Hawkeye, for the fictional musical Rogers. That musical chronicles the life of Steve Rogers, the first Captain America. The song was so popular with Marvel and musical fans that at D23, Disney's annual convention, in 2022, the company had a live performance of "Save the City," with full costume and choreography.

And now Rogers: The Musical a full one-act show, to be performed live for audiences at California Adventure Tuesday to Saturday. This new musical project will come to life through the creativity of Disney Live Entertainment in partnership with book writer Hunter Bell, star and book writer of the Tony Award-nominated [title of show] and will feature five all-new songs with music by Grammy-winning composer Christopher Lennertz and lyrics by Jordan Peterson, Christopher Lennertz and Alex Karukas. The musical will also feature the song "Save the City," as well as “Star Spangled Man” from the film Captain America: The First Avenger (the latter was written by Alan Menken and David Zippel).
