Marvin Hamlisch and Rupert HolmesThe Nutty Professor will get a studio cast album via TBIC Music Group. The album is expected to release in 2024, with casting to be announced. Based on the 1963 film, the 2012 musical would turn out to be the Chorus Line composer's final work—Hamlisch passed away during its world premiere run at Nashville's Tennessee Performing Arts Center.

The musical follows Professor Julius Kelp, a socially awkward scientist who concocts a potion to transform himself into a suave ladies' man. The film's star, Jerry Lewis, directed the musical's world premiere, which had been expected to be followed by a Broadway bow. Hamlisch's death put the transfer plans on hold, though it did receive another staging at Maine's Ogunquit Playhouse last year.

"To say that I’m honored with the task of producing this album is an understatement,” says Jason Turchin, executive producer and founder of TBIC. "I grew up watching Jerry Lewis movies, listening to Rupert Holmes’ numerous hit songs, and watching my children sing and dance to the songs from A Chorus Line."

Along with Turchin, the album is being produced by Artistic Producer Peter H. Gistelinck and music director Todd Ellison, in association with Terre Blair-Hamlisch and Jerry Lewis Films, Inc.

The release removes one title from Hamlisch's musicals that have not yet received cast albums, which currently also includes 1983's Jean Seberg and 1986's Smile.
