MCC Theater's 2025 iteration of their annual benefit concert event Miscast will honor Emmy winner and original Dreamgirls cast member Sheryl Lee Ralph. The evening is planned for April 7 at the Hammerstein Ballroom, with the performance set to become available for worldwide streaming April 21.
The upcoming concert, the series' 25th, will feature a host of Broadway favorites singing songs from roles for which they would not traditionally be cast. This year's roster of performers includes Annaleigh Ashford (Sweeney Todd), Danielle Brooks (The Color Purple), Tituss Burgess (Oh, Mary!), Cole Escola (Oh, Mary!), Jordan Fisher (Hadestown), Steven Pasquale (The Bridges of Madison County), Andrew Rannells (The Boys in the Band), Nicole Scherzinger (Sunset Boulevard), Britton Smith (Be More Chill), Phillipa Soo (Hamilton), Ephraim Sykes (Our Town), Aaron Tveit (Moulin Rouge!), Jordan Tyson (Gypsy), and Michael Urie (Once Upon a Mattress). More performers will be announced in the coming days.
Also being honored at this year's event will be MCC Youth Company alum and artist Travis Raeburn.
The theatre is also again letting everybody in on the fun with $MCCMiscastMe, a social media campaign that invites theatre fans everywhere to post 60-second clips of themselves performing a song from a role in which they would not be traditionally be cast. The Off-Broadway company will select videos to be featured in the streaming version of Miscast25, and on MCC's social media and YouTube channels. Entrants will also be eligible to win tickets to see Miscast25 live November 7. Submissions are being accepted through March 15. Full eligibility requirements and rules are at MCC.Theater/MiscastMe.
