Playbill Travel More Exciting Talent Joins Playbill’s First-Ever River Cruise See who is joining Tony winner Paulo Szot on our Rhône River trip for Broadway, Bordeaux, and brie.

After immense success and unforgettable memories from our Broadway on the High Seas cruises, Playbill introduces an even more intimate travel experience: our European river cruises.

And we are thrilled to announce an impressive lineup of stars joining us for this debut river cruise.

One of the most acclaimed and versatile baritones in the world—and a Tony winner to boot—Brazilian born Paulo Szot brings his talent to the Rhône. Having won his Tony, a Drama Desk, Outer Critic’s Circle and Theatre World Awards for his performance as Emile De Beque in Lincoln Center Theater’s 2008 revival of Rodgers and Hammerstein’s South Pacific. If you haven’t heard him sing “Some Enchanted Evening,” you haven’t heard true beauty.

In addition, stunning soprano and three-time Tony nominee Rebecca Luker joins the Playbill Travel family. Having originated the role of Winifred Banks in Disney’s Mary Poppins on Broadway and Lily in The Secret Garden, Luker was most recently seen in the Tony-winning hit musical Fun Home as Helen Bechdel.

Tony nominee Liz Callaway brings her stunning vocals for a return appearance with Playbill Travel, having most recently joined us on Broadway on the High Seas 6. Known for her role as Ellen in Miss Saigon and as a former Grizabella, Callaway will be sure to help us make a “memory” or two.

And we’re not done! James Barbour, a Drama Desk and Outer Critics Circle Awards nominee and Broadway’s current Phantom of the Opera, brings his stunning vocals to our lineup. An exquisite performer, James has also performed on Broadway in Urinetown: The Musical, Jane Eyre, Beauty and the Beast (as the Beast), Carousel, and more.

The inaugural river cruise aboard the S.S. Catherine will venture down France’s picturesque Rhône River. Departing from Avignon, passengers will explore Tarascon sur Rhone, Viviers, Tournon/Tain L’Hermitage, Lyon, and Macon. In addition to the specially curated solo shows from our performers, guests will enjoy a classical group concert in the oldest cathedral in France—located in stunning Viviers. The combination of talent (who have not previously performed all together) and ambiance makes for an extraordinary afternoon ashore. In addition to these unparalleled performances, this river cruise is themed to feature the sumptuous food and wine of the region. Sommelier Jean-Luc le Du will provide his expertise in gourmet tastings and gastronomic adventures.

The sold-out Rhône River cruise sails from May 21–28. But, never fear, suites are still available for our upcoming Rhine River cruise August 13–20.
