Off-Broadway's Chelsea Factory and the National Black Theatre have partnered to present the first public presentation of Oya Mae Dxtchxss-Davis's Packages O’ The Things We Deliver.
The play, the latest body of work commissioned as part of the I Am Soul Playwright Residency, will be directed by Daniel Boisrond, and be presented at Chelsea Factory March 27 through 31.
“It’s mind blowing to be in a space where I am allowed to come in freely as myself, a black disabled person," shares Dxtchxss-Davis in a statement. "There aren’t many places that welcome the full range of how I express myself, and NBT continues to live up to being a ‘home away from home. This big idea–a play that NBT is taking on-stage–is a true reflection of my whole self.”
The play centers on three brothers, who struggle through their own haunted pasts to save their family in the face of police violence in Minneapolis.
The upcoming presentation will star Javon Q. Minter, Travis Raeburn, SeQuoiia, Kayodè Soyemi, and Tarra Conner Jones. The creative team will feature set designer lucas a degirolamo, costume designer Jason A. Goodwin, lighting designer John D. Alexander, sound designer Chris Darbassie, projections designer Zavier Augustus Lee Taylor, props designer and production stage manager Belynda M’Baye, production manager Bernard Johnson, and associate director Wesley McIntyre. The production is cast by Sujotta Pace.
