Off-Broadway's Ensemble Studio Theatre (EST) has unveiled the lineup for its 2024-25 season, which will include two new comedies by alumni of the theatre’s Youngblood Playwrights Program, commissioned and developed through the EST/Sloan Project. This year celebrates the 25th anniversary of the partnership between EST and The Alfred P. Sloan Foundation.
EST’s 56th season will begin in October with the New York premiere of Franklinland by Pulitzer Prize finalist Lloyd Suh. Directed by Chika Ike, Franklinland will run October 9 to November 3. The comedy is written from the perspective of Benjamin Franklin's son.
In March 2025, HAVE YOU MET JANE GOODALL AND HER MOTHER? will receive its world premiere staging. Written by Michael Walek and directed by Linsay Firman, the play centers on Goodall's chimpanzee studies within Tanzania, and her adherence to their chaperone request through the presence of her mother, novelist Margaret Myfanwe Joseph.
