This Is Not A Time Of Peace by Deb Margolin will premiere Off-Broadway later this year at Theatre Row.

Beginning performances February 20, the play centers on the relationship between a father and daughter as they try not to spin out in the aftermath of the Red Scare. Presented by New Light Theater Project, the piece will run through March 16.

When Alina finds her memory consumed father Hillel on the brink of starvation, she struggles to sort through his distorted memories to discern the truth of his supposed Communist affiliations, all the while hiding from her own hidden affairs. 

The play is quasi-autobiographical. Hillel is loosely based on Margolin's own father, an accomplished metallurgical engineer who lost his security clearance, and thereby his grants for scientific research, in the red-baiting of Joe McCarthy's House Un-American Activities Committee (HUAC).

Directed by Jerry Heymann, This Is Not A Time Of Peace will star Charlotte Cohn as Alina and Roger Hendricks Simon as Hillel, alongside Simon Feil, Ken King, Frank Licato, Steven Rattazzi, and Richard Hollis.

Scenic design will be by Jessica Parks, costume design will be by Julia Squier, lighting design will be by Paul Hudson, sound design will be by Jennie Gorn, casting is by Robin Carus, intimacy direction will be by Leighton Samuels, and dramaturgy will be by Ginny Mayer.
