Off-Broadway's immersive Odd Man Out has extended for a third and finale time, with performances now ending August 24 at the Sheen Center's Shiner Theatre.
Described as a "full-scale, one-of-a-kind live 360-degree fully immersive sensory experience," Odd Man Out plays out with audiences in full darkness. They become passengers at an airport, where they visit a lounge, access a boarding gate, and are escorted to their seats on the plane. No blindfolds or headphones are involved in this one, as you fly home with Alberto, a blind musician. Along the way, audiences hear of Alberto's life story.
The work is written by Martin Bondone and is directed by Bondone, Facundo Bogarín, and Carlos Armesto. The creative team includes storytelling reviewers Matías Guzmán and Martin Sainvil, line producer Giorgia Valenti, production stage manager and ensemble member D Henry Hanson, sound technician Julia Vaquero Ramos, environmental scenic designer Tyler Herald, composer Mirko Mescia, and immersive audio designer Nicolás Alvarez.
The Off-Broadway cast includes Lorenza Bernasconi, Carmen Borla, Agustina Cedraschi, Pablo Drutman, Bree Klauser, Hanson, Mauricio Marte, Andrés Montejo, and Valenti.
The production premiered at Argentina's Teatro Ciego in 2019, coming to The Flea in a semi-live edition in 2021. The U.S. premiere of the fully staged iteration was at Bristol Riverside Theatre in 2022.
