Make a Wish! Walt Disney Animation Studios has released a teaser trailer for their latest animated feature film, Wish. Featuring a snippet of the song, "The Wish," by star Ariana DeBose, the trailer introduces 17-year-old Asha, the powerful King Magnifico, Asha’s pet goat Valentino, and Star, a celestial ball of boundless energy that Asha’s wish calls down from the sky.
Hitting theatres ] November 22nd, Wish will include new songs written by Julia Michaels and Benjamin Rice. The new musical-comedy takes place in Rosas, the fantastical kingdom of wishes, located off the Iberian Peninsula. People make pilgrimages to Rosas to give their wishes to a magical king, voiced by Chris Pine, who alone decides which wishes come true, and when.
Directed by Chris Buck (Frozen, Frozen 2) and Fawn Veerasunthorn (Raya and the Last Dragon), the film centers on DeBose's Asha, a sharp-witted idealist, who makes a wish so powerful that it is answered by a cosmic force—a little ball of boundless energy called Star. Together, Asha and Star must confront a most formidable foe—King Magnifico—to save her community and prove that when the will of one courageous human connects with the magic of the stars, wondrous things can happen.
Alongside DeBose and Pine are Alan Tudyk as Asha’s favorite goat, Valentino. The film is produced by Peter Del Vecho (Frozen, Frozen 2), co-produced by Juan Pablo Reyes (Encanto), and executive produced by Jennifer Lee (Frozen, Frozen 2). Lee and Allison Moore (Night Sky, Manhunt) are writers on the project. Accompanying original songs by Michaels and Rice is a score by composer Dave Metzger.
