A host of stage favorites will take to the screen in HBO’s upcoming prequel to Game of Thrones. The cast for the pilot, according to Variety, will include Tony Award winner Alex Sharp (The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time, How to Talk to Girls at Parties) and Olivier winner Denise Gough (Angels in America, Colette).
They join the previously announced Naomi Watts and Josh Whitehouse. The cast will also include Olivier winner Sheila Atim (Girl From the North Country), Sweeney Todd alum Jamie Campbell Bower, Naomi Ackie, Ivanno Jeremiah, Georgie Henley, and Toby Regbo (Tusk Tusk).
SJ Clarkson is set to helm the pilot, which will take place thousands of years before the events of George R.R. Martin's popular novels and the series it spawned. Martin crafted the story for the prequel with Jane Goldman, who will serve as showrunner.
