The original London cast of the Tony-winning musical Avenue Q—including Ann Harada, who played Christmas Eve on both sides of the Atlantic—will reunite for an 18th anniversary concert November 10 at London's Sondheim Theatre.
In addition to Harada, the 18th birthday party will also feature original London company members Jon Robyns as Princeton/Rod, Julie Atherton as Kate/Lucy, Simon Lipkin as Nicky/Trekkie/Blue Bear, Giles Terrera as Gary Coleman, Sion Lloyd as Brian, and Jacqui Sanchez as Mrs T/Yellow Bear.
Atherton will also direct the puppet-friendly evening with musical direction by James Doughty.
Avenue Q, which has a Tony-winning score by Robert Lopez and Jeff Marx and a Tony-winning book by Jeff Whitty, follows the lovably hopeless characters on a downtown New York Street trying to make sense of life's burning issues: love, work, relationships and, above all, just how are you supposed to pay the bills with a BA in English?
The Broadway hit premiered premiered in London at the Noël Coward Theatre (formerly the Albery Theatre) in 2006 and played a total of 1,179 performances in the West End (also at the Gielgud Theatre and Wyndham’s Theatre) before it closed in October 2010.
