Paley Center Offering Screenings of Mary Martin Peter Pan | Playbill

News Paley Center Offering Screenings of Mary Martin Peter Pan As theatre fans anxiously await NBC's Peter Pan Live! — starring Allison Williams and Christopher Walken — New York's Paley Center for Media will screen the 1960 NBC telecast of Peter Pan starring Tony winner Mary Martin.

Screenings are scheduled for Saturdays and Sundays at 12:10 PM from Nov. 8, 2014-Jan. 4, 2015.

Following the screenings, excerpts will be shown from a 1988 Museum of Broadcasting seminar with Mary Martin, in which she reminisces about the telecast of Peter Pan.

In 1954 Mary Martin created the title role in Peter Pan in a Broadway production staged and choreographed by Jerome Robbins, with original music and lyrics by Carolyn Leigh and Moose Charlap, and additional music and lyrics (including “Neverland”) by Jule Styne, Betty Comden and Adolph Green. This videotaped telecast reunites Martin, Cyril Ritchard and others from the Broadway production, including Margalo Gillmore, Sondra Lee and Joe E. Marks. It was directed for television by Vincent J. Donehue.

The running time is 110 minutes.

Screenings are free with Paley Center admission ($10, $8 students and seniors, $5 children under 14); free for Paley Center members. The Paley Center for Media is located at 25 West 52nd Street. Click here for more information.
