Washington, who won the 2010 Tony Award for his performance in Fences, is primarily known for his various film roles.
Denzel is a two-time Academy Award winner, first for his work in the 1989 film Glory; and second for 2001’s Training Day. Other films include A Soldier’s Story; Cry Freedom; Malcolm X; Philadelphia; The Hurricane; and Flight.
He has also directed and starred in the films Antwone Fisher and The Great Debaters.
Washington first appeared in the New York Shakespeare Festival production of Coriolanus. Other stage credits include Ceremonies in Dark Old Men; When The Chickens Come Home To Roost; A Soldier’s Play; Every Goodbye Ain’t Gone; and Richard III. Broadway roles include Checkmates; Julius Caesar; and Fences.
Denzel is also known for his television work on the long-running hospital drama St. Elsewhere.
