Play On Shakespeare has announced two works for their Fall 2023 season: an Othello podcast adaption, and a production of Henry IV, Part 1 at Oregon's Lewis & Clark College.
The not-for-profit organization aims to translate and adapt the works of Shakespeare for the modern day through productions of plays, podcast adaptions, and publications. Their podcast adaptions, presented by Next Chapter Podcasts, have brought Macbeth, Pericles, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, and Coriolanus to the audio storytelling format for listeners to enjoy anywhere, anytime.
This November, Play On Shakespeare will stage Henry IV, Part 1 with direction by Waylon Lenk and translation by Yvette Nolan. The production will play the Lewis & Clark Theatre at Lewis & Clark College in Portland, Oregon from November 3—11.
Play On Podcasts has also just released episode one of Othello, starring Jeremy Tardy, Kayli Carter, Barret O’Brien, Paul Juhn, Christopher Gurr, Francesca Fernandez, Rachel Crowl, Lakisha May, Tommy Schrider, and Natalie Hegg. Directed by Victor Malana Maog, the podcast adaption features music composition, mix, and sound design by Lindsay Jones; dramaturgy and cultural Consulting by Martine Kei Green-Rogers; and audio play by Catherine Eaton.
