SNL alum Rachel Dratch and 30 Rock’s Jack McBrayer will star as Patricia and Eugene Fodor, respectively, in Manhattan Concert Productions’ presentation of the Tony Award-winning Gershwin musical Crazy for You, which will take place February 19 at David Geffen Hall.
The Fodors pop up in the musical as two British tourists writing a guidebook on the American West. With music and lyrics by George Gershwin and Ira Gershwin, and a book by Ken Ludwig, Crazy for You is based on the Gershwins’ 1930 musical Girl Crazy.
As previously reported, Tony Yazbeck (Gypsy, On the Town) will star as Bobby Child opposite two-time Tony nominee Laura Osnes (Bandstand, Cinderella) as Polly Baker in the concert event. Also featured will be Harry Groener as Bella Zangler. Groener earned a Tony Award nomination for creating the role of Bobby Child in the original Broadway production.
The one-night-only event will be directed and choreographed by five-time Tony Award winner Susan Stroman, who won the 1992 Tony Award for Best Choreography on the original production of Crazy for You.
The concert presentation will feature Stroman’s iconic original choreography.
Crazy for You will feature a chorus of 240 singers from across the United States and the New York City Chamber Orchestra.
