News Rage and Love in London! Check Out These Intense First Shots of the New U.K. American Idiot The new London production of American Idiot began performances at the Arts Theatre July 17 prior to an official opening July 22, for a run that is booking through Sept. 27.

Joining the previously announced Amelia Lily, a finalist in the 2011 U.K edition of "X Factor" as Whatshername, are Luke Baker (Theo), Natasha Barnes (Heather), Alexis Gerred (Tunny), Llandyll Gove (Gerard), Raquel Jones (Extraordinary girl), Natasha Karp (Alysha) Robyn Mellor (Libby), Lucas Rush (St. Jimmy), Steve Rushton (Will), Aaron Sidwell (Johnny) and Ross William Wild (Joshua).

The best known of them is Aaron Sidwell, who was series regular Steven Beale in "EastEnders." Previous musical theatre credits include the original cast of Loserville at West Yorkshire Playhouse and the West End's Garrick Theatre, Cool Rider Live at the Lyric and Duchess Theatres, and Carl Bruner in Ghost the Musical at Frankfurt's English Theatre.

Previously seen in the U.K. with the American touring cast that also had a London run at the Hammersmith Apollo in 2012, this new production is directed and choreographed by Racky Plews, with sound by Chris Whybrow, design by Sara Perks and lighting by Tim Deiling.

The musical features the music of Green Day with the lyrics of its lead singer Billie Joe Armstrong, and book by Billie Joe Armstrong and Michael Mayer who was its original director. It tells the story of three boyhood friends, each searching for meaning in a post 9-11 world. The score includes the songs "Boulevard of Broken Dreams," "21 Guns," "Wake Me Up When September Ends," "Holiday" and the blockbuster title track "American Idiot" from Green Day’s 2004 Grammy Award-winning album of the same same. Also included are several songs from Green Day's 2009 release "21st Century Breakdown" and an unreleased love song, "When It's Time."
