Journalists Rex Reed and Will Friedwald will celebrate the late actor and singer Polly Bergen with a tribute held July 15 at 7:00 PM at The Triad Theater. The evening will include personal anecdotes as well as rare footage from a variety of Bergen's projects.
The event will feature footage from shows including The Hollywood Palace, The Andy Williams Show, The Dean Martin Show, The Perry Como Kraft Music Hall, and The Dinah Shore Chevy Show; with Bergen appearing alongside Phil Silvers, George Burns, Red Skelton, André Previn, James Brown, Johnny Carson, Milton Berle, Sandler & Young, Carol Burnett, Garry Moore, and more.
Bergen, who passed away in 2014, performed in numerous Broadway shows, including Cabaret, Follies, Love Letters, and more. She received a Tony Award nomination for her performance as Carlotta Campion in the 2001 revival of Follies. On screen, she was known for starring in the 1957 Helen Morgan biography series Playhouse 90, for which she received an Emmy Award. Bergen also played roles in Desperate Housewives and The Sopranos.
