Emmy winner Richard Thomas (The Waltons) has extended his run in the first national tour of Aaron Sorkin’s stage adaptation of Harper Lee's To Kill a Mockingbird, which launched in March 2022.

The stage and screen star will continue as Atticus Finch for the complete third touring season. Additional casting will be announced.

For the 2023-2024 touring season, the production will play 44 cities  across North America, including return engagements in Washington, D.C.; Chicago, Illinois; and Charlotte, North Carolina. The tour will also make premiere engagements in Detroit, Michigan; Toronto, Ontario; Milwaukee, Wisconsin; Atlanta, Georgia; Providence, Rhode Island; Fort Worth, Texas; Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; Dayton, Ohio; Kansas City, Missouri; Eugene, Oregon; West Palm Beach, Florida; Iowa City, Iowa; Indianapolis, Indiana; Norfolk, Virginia; Fort Myers, Florida; Tulsa, Oklahoma; Naples, Florida; and Chattanooga, Tennessee, among others.

Directed by Bartlett Sher, Sorkin's stage adaptation of To Kill a Mockingbird premiered in December 2018 at Broadway’s Shubert Theatre. On February 26, 2020—a few weeks before the Broadway shutdown—the Broadway cast gave a history-making free performance at Madison Square Garden in front of 18,000 New York City school children. Mockingbird, which resumed its Broadway run in October 2021, played its final performance at the Shubert January 16, 2022. The acclaimed production previously announced it would not reopen on Broadway.

Set in Alabama in 1934, Harper Lee’s enduring story of racial injustice and childhood innocence centers on small-town lawyer Atticus Finch. The cast of characters includes Atticus’ daughter Scout, her brother Jem, their housekeeper and caretaker, Calpurnia, their visiting friend Dill, and a mysterious neighbor, the reclusive Arthur “Boo” Radley.

To Kill a Mockingbird is designed by Miriam Buether, with costumes by Ann Roth, lighting by Jennifer Tipton, sound by Scott Lehrer, an original score by Adam Guettel, musical direction by Kimberly Grigsby, hair and wig design by Campbell Young Associates, casting by The Telsey Office, and design adaptation and supervision by Edward Pierce. The national tour is produced by Barry Diller.
